How does the license pool work?
The License pool module lets users launch games under your licenses (game accounts). Currently, this module is compatible with Steam, Origin, Battle.net, Riot Games, Epic Games, Ubisoft Connect, and Rockstar gaming platforms.
In our system, licenses are linked to games, not PCs. In the admin panel, you add licenses to the game card that should be available to players. You can add an unlimited number of licenses for games.
📌 We recommend determining the number of licenses (game accounts) according to the number of PCs or the average number of visitors, since each player can use only one account.
The client interface (client Shell) displays such content cards with a "key" icon. When clients launch the card with licenses, the system automatically gives them the first available account, i.e., automatically authorizes users under available accounts. If all accounts are occupied by other players, the system notifies clients when they try to launch the card with no licenses available.
🔎 For players to use their accounts to play games, you need to create a separate content card, for example, "Dota 2 (your game account)", because if players use a content card with licenses, they will automatically be issued a license. Thus, users will have a choice to play using their account or a venue's one.
How to add a license to a content card?
Open the admin panel and go to Content → All content.
🔎Make sure that the game cards you want to add licenses to are set to launch via the corresponding platform (Steam, Epic Games, etc.), as the "local" launch method does not work with licenses.
- Search for the game's card for which you want to add licenses and scroll down the page to the Add License Pool section.
- Click Add, and fill in the Login and Password fields with your account login information. For Origin, enter your email address in the Login field.
- Please make sure that the Status switch is activated and confirm the addition of the account by clicking the green checkmark.
Important! If you want to share the same licenses across different content cards, set up license inheritance.
What is license inheritance?
The license inheritance option allows you to distribute licenses across several content cards simultaneously. For example, if one Steam account is used to run different games and applications, you should add all Steam licenses to only one content card and set up inheritance for all others. This will ensure correct retrieval and issuance of free accounts by the system.
After you have added accounts, for example, to the Dota 2 card, go to the card for which you want to use the same licenses (for example, CS:GO). You don't need to add the accounts there, just select the name of the content card where they have already been added (Dota 2).
How to set up license inheritance?
- Open the game card for which you want to set up license inheritance (a card to which you have not added licenses yet).
- Go to the Add License Pool section and enter the name of the content card from which you want to inherit licenses in the Inherit field.
- Select the required content card from the drop-down menu.
-
If you have successfully set up license inheritance, you can edit or delete the inheritance from the specified card.
Important! Suppose you do not use the inheritance option for licenses and add the same licenses to different content cards. In that case, the system will not consider them as a single entity, and a situation may occur when two users are issued the same license. As a result, the first user will be "kicked out" of the game.
How to assign a license to a specific user?
When a license is assigned to a user, this account is excluded from the list of licenses available to the rest of the clients and thus becomes available exclusively to the specified client.
To assign a license:
- Go to the Content section and open the game card with licenses.
- Go to the Add License Pool section and click on the edit icon in the field with the required account.
- Enter the login of the user to whom you want to assign the license. Be sure to select the login from the drop-down list.
- Confirm the actions by clicking on the green check mark.
Specifics of a content card configuration when using licenses
When creating a content card with licenses, select the game's platform (Steam, Origin, Epic Games, Riot Games, Battle.net, Uboft connect, Rockstar) and the game's ID in the Launch method field.
