If your PCs don't turn on from the venue map, check if the following conditions are met on each PC:
1. Wake on Lan. The "Wake on LAN" function is enabled in both the PC's BIOS and the network card driver settings.
2. PC Power Status. At least one PC is powered on – either online, under the support account, or with an active user session.
3. Subnet Configuration. All PCs are on the same subnet. To learn how to verify your subnet, check out this WikiHow article.
To see if the subnet is the same, compare the first three sets of numbers in the IP address of both the PC sending the command and the target PC. If the first three numbers match, they are on the same subnet.
In the example below, PC 1 and PC 2 are on the same subnet, but PC 3 is not.
PC | IP Address | First three sets of numbers |
---|---|---|
PC 1 |
192.168.1.10 | 192.168.1 |
PC 2 |
192.168.1.20 | 192.168.1 |
PC 3 |
192.168.2.15 |
192.168.2 – the subnet differs |
Important! If all these conditions are met but the issue persists, disable the Suspend-to-RAM function in your PC's BIOS. This feature activates ultra-power-saving mode, which cuts off power to the network card when the PC is off, preventing it from receiving the necessary Wake on LAN signals.
