In this article, we will look at how to update games via the admin panel for disk-based PCs. The Game update function is available from the 15.0.10 version of E-launcher.
Updating games from the admin panel will help you keep your content up to date while saving you time and effort. Furthermore, you can select between automatic updates of all available games and self-management of updates in the admin panel → Content → Game update.
To manage updates:
1. Add the Game Update add-on. To do this, go to Settings → Organization infos and click the Edit subscription button. Check the Game updater box and click the Prepare invoice button. If the organization has several offices, the add-on must be connected for each office separately.
After connecting the add-on, be sure to contact the technical support team to display the updates tab.
2. If you have already enabled the feature, go to Users → Roles and user access and enable the access to content updates privilege for employees who will manage updates.
3. If you want all content to be updated automatically as soon as an update is available, enable Local paths for game updates in the organization's Settings and save the changes. An individual switch has been added for each office in the organization, so if the organization has several offices, you can enable or disable the update for each office separately.
When automatic updates are enabled, the system checks the status of the PC regularly. If the PC meets the requirements, i.e., free or with an administrator session, it starts the update.
Important! You can set the speed limit for updating games in Settings → Setting up files/folders transfer from PC to PC.
4. BE SURE TO SPECIFY THE DISK WITH CONTENT ON YOUR PCS. To do this, click the Set Paths button.
- The disk can be specified both for the whole gaming venue and for each zone separately. The disk letter must match the actual disk with the content in the gaming venue. The system checks if the PC has the disk specified for the zone and downloads the update or game there. If the disk letter for the zone is not found, the system checks the disk selected for the entire gaming venue.
If you want to run updates manually from the admin panel, turn off the automatic update option.
5. To update games manually, go to Content → Game updates.
- The number of games for which an update is available is indicated above the Game updates tab (the number is indicated provided that the automatic update option is disabled).
- An update button is displayed next to a game that has an update. To update a game, click the Update available button next to the game you want to update.
- A modal window will appear, displaying only those offices to which the employee performing the update has access. The update can only be run on a PC without a client session, however, any Windows account can be logged in.
- To expand the list of PCs, click on the icon in the PCs field. The number of PCs in the office is indicated next to it.
- A new modal window will appear where you can update or install the game on your PC if it hasn't been already installed.
- If the game is installed, you will see the current version of the game as well as an available one. By clicking on the arrows, you will start the game update.
DO NOT UPDATE MORE THAN 5 PCS AT A TIME, AS IT AFFECTS THE INTERNET CONNECTION.
If the PC is not available for updating, it means that it is occupied by a client or turned off.
- If the game is not installed on the PC, the current version field will show “Not installed”. By clicking on the arrows, you can start the installation of the game on the selected PC.
6. To check the update history or progress, go to the Map section and open the History of updates tab.
7. Done! If you want to see a hint on setting up game updates or find detailed instructions, click on the Game update settings button at the top of the screen.
- When you go to the settings, the system will highlight the necessary parameters. After enabling the desired features, you can go back by clicking Back to game update section.
8. A notification appears on the PC login screen indicating that the selected game is being updated. The user will be able to log in and start a session, but the game will not be available. During this time it is possible to run any other games, the game will become available immediately after the update is completed.
