SENET Boot Hybrid Mode
In SENET Boot version 13.0.24, we introduced a hybrid mode that allows centralized game management with lower network requirements. This is an ideal solution for venues that want the benefits of a diskless system but are constrained by network infrastructure limitations.
🔧 How It Works
Client PCs boot from their local hard drives, while SENET Boot connects content drives over the network after the PC starts.
The updated SENET Workstation Service sends network requests at startup to connect to the content drives.
⬇️
If a SENET Boot instance is available on the local network, it grants access to the content drives assigned to that PC zone.
⬇️
If no drives are assigned or SENET Boot is not installed, the PC continues to operate in standard mode.
Benefits
Reduces network load during boot (no need to transfer full system images)
Centralized management of content and updates
Eliminates image writebacks, reducing SSD and network usage
Easier to set up compared to fully diskless systems
Limitations
Windows updates and game launcher updates must be applied locally on each PC
Game manifests and launcher files require manual updates, as automation is not yet available
