CHANGES
1. Ram Cache. RAM cache can now be configured in the local SENET Boot Admin panel. This will help optimize PC performance, speed up access to the most frequently used data, and reduce the loading time of applications and games using the PC's RAM. Unlike client RAM cache, the new functionality uses server PC memory.
2. SENET Boot Admin interface. We've optimized the SENET Boot Admin interface by simplifying navigation and reducing the number of tabs. Additionally, we have added tooltips in the form of red indicators next to tabs that contain messages or warnings of possible errors.
- The "Boot Selection" tab has been removed from the local panel. Boot selection is fully automated.
- The "Writebacks", "Content Drives", "Personal drive" tabs have been removed, all related functionality is now configured under SENET Boot Settings → Set disks.
3. Network Adapters. With this update, we have simplified network configuration by adding the ability to manage network adapters in SENET Boot Admin.
- You can select which NICs SENET Boot will use, as well as view their status and speed. Plus, the system automatically detects incidents related to the NICs, such as slow data transfer speeds or loss of connection. It is important to note that the system does not diagnose the NICs, but only informs you about detected anomalies in operation.
To manage network adapters, go to SENET Boot Settings → Network Settings. Click the Network adapters button to open the window for managing network cards.
4. Writebacks.
- The system will display a warning if there is not enough space left on the disk for writebacks.
- If the disk used for storing writebacks is full, the system will automatically delete the largest recorded writeback. This way, an overflow of the disk with writebacks will not cause a complete shutdown of the system, but will only restart PCs with the largest ones that are interfering with the system's functioning.
- Additionally, the system will display a warning if writebacks start to grow rapidly. If at least 2 writebacks weigh more than 30 GB, a warning appears in the local admin panel. Such notifications will help the administrator to quickly detect that writeback is growing, which means that they need to check the system and run necessary updates, for example, update the image or content.
5. Other system improvements.
- The mechanism for checking duplicate IP addresses on the DHCP server has been improved. This will help to ensure that the necessary data for booting PCs is quickly obtained and avoid delays associated with a long check. If a duplicate IP is detected, the system will display an error in the local SENET Boot Admin panel.
- If a PC image is corrupted due to the absence of certain partitions in the disk image layout, for example, the MBR loader is missing, the cause of the error will be displayed on the monitor screen when the PC is booted. The error text may look like this: "Failed to find a valid VHD footer at start or end of file - VHD file is corrupt".
- Added monitoring of web sockets status. If the websocket connection is lost, SENET Boot will immediately try to restore it.
FIXED
- The display of snapshots merge progress in the History of updates in SENET Boot Admin has been restored.
- Fixed an issue in which the writeback created during a superuser session with no changes saved was not deleted when a new superuser session was started. Each new superuser session creates a new writeback, clearing the previous one.
- Fixed a situation when SENET Boot did not detect the existence of an image if it was located in a newly created image folder.
- The Snapshots list is updated after every snapshot merge. The list displays current snapshots, removing the ones that have already been merged.
- The SENET Boot service continues to work correctly and does not try to restart if it fails to receive settings from the DHCP server with the error "Unable to get DHCP settings from server".
