You can find a hidden miner even before you receive large electricity bills. The ENESTECH team has prepared recommendations and instructions for everyone concerned about illegal coin mining at the expense of their gaming venue.
Signs of illegal miner on a PC
1. Notifications from the SENET system
The system will notify you about a potential threat by analyzing the usage of graphic cards. The check runs on Shell’s login screen only. In case of abnormal usage of the graphic card, a notification about a possible miner will be sent to CAP, indicating a PC number.
Notifications can be turned off by contacting our technical support.
2. CPU reboot and video card overheating
Because coin mining requires computing power, a heavy load on СPU during idle time is suspicious.
Check the task manager to understand which process can overload system resources.
3. The antivirus does not work
If a miner gains access to the computer system and begins actively installing and moving files, the antivirus software will detect this. It will consider the program as a “Potentially Unwanted Application” and will be able to warn you.
Do not ignore antivirus updates and warnings.
4. Downloading pirated content
Mining programs can take the form of anything from a plain document to the Epic Games launcher.
Avoid downloading files from unverified or pirated sources.
5. Browser does not have AdBlock or NoScript
Mining can start because of entering a website. To use the Internet safely, install AdBlock or NoScript extensions in your browser. They block JavaScript code that can potentially start the mining process on your computers through web pages.
If the computer starts making noise and slows down on certain sites, close it or restart the browser. Hidden mining can continue in the background after the tab is closed.
Сonfigure your SENET
1. Update the client interface
Each release of E-Launcher has a written script for detecting and deactivating miners. We add to it every time a user reports a new technique of hidden mining to the support service, therefore keeping SENET up to date is critical!
Every time the client PC is started, SENET launches a script to search for miners, complementing the work of the antivirus. If you do not install new versions of E-Launcher and do not update your antivirus, you do not have the minimum set of protection tools.
2. Set access restrictions on client PCs
You will be able to minimize the risks if your users cannot download and install dubious programs from unverified sources. You can achieve this by configuring maximum restrictions for users in the SENET admin panel.
Follow the recommendations and you will reduce the chances of hidden miners getting into your PCs.
